Very single and very very special 2013!

Este año está a punto de terminar (tal vez se acabe el mundo también!!), así que decidimos cantar una canción, cortar y pegar papeles y pasar un buen rato animando una película. También decidimos que era el mejor momento para hacer un homenaje a uno de nuestros maestros, uno de los mejores animadores de todos los tiempos, Fyodor Khitruk! Nos encantan las animaciones “planas y llenas de vida – con muchos detalles – y con un desenfrenado amor por la ilustración” que hacía! Por eso decidimos crear nuestra pieza “The place where gisfts are crafted” aka Gnomos Kontraten. Esperamos que os guste!

The year is close to the end (maybe the world is ending too), so we decided to sing a song, cut some papers and have fun animating a movie. We also decided that it was the best moment to make a tribute to one of our masters, one of the best animators ever, Fyodor Khitruk! We love that “plain and vibrant – full of details – and always loving the illustration language” animation he made! So that’s why we decided to create our  movie “The place where gisfts are crafted” aka Gnomos Kontraten. We hope you enjoy it!

Gracias a la serie americana Sons of Anarchy descubrí el otro día al cantante Jake Smith, también conocido como The White Buffalo, y su acojonante voz rasgada. Os dejo con su canción Wish It Was True, una muestra de su precioso estilo.

Detroit – Now And Then

Detroiturbex es una organización que estudia el fenómeno demográfico de la ciudad americana de Detroit. Respecto a estos estudios, el nivel de población de Detroit se ha expandido y contraído rápidamente. Debido a esta expansión demográfica, las infraestructuras como calles, escuelas u hospitales de la ciudad también crecieron para atender la demanda. Después de los 50s, Detroit ha ido sufriendo una contínua contracción de su población. Sin embargo, las infraestructuras no lo hicieron y muchas de ellas se han abandonado.
Detroiturbex ha lanzado el proyecto fotográfico Now and Then, donde han mezclado el aspecto que tienen actualmente esos lugares abandonados o semiderruídos con viejas fotografías tomadas en los días del boom demográfico. Un entrañable proyecto de contraste que irá creciendo con el paso del tiempo. ¡Habrá que estar atentos a nuevas actualizaciones!

Detroiturbex is an organisation which studies the demographic case of city of Detroit. According with this studies, the population level of Detroit has rapidly expanded and contracted. Due to that demographic expansion, the infrastructures (streets, schools, hospitals) of the city expanded as well to meet demand. After the 50s, Detroit has suffered a continuously contraction of its population. However, the infrastructures hasn’t and some of them has been abandoned.
Detroiturbex has launched a photographic project called Now and Then, where they have mixed the look that has nowadays these abandoned or almost demolished places with old pictures taked on the boom days. A good touching contrast project which will be growing by the time. We should be tunned to its news updates!

Señor Salme

Señor Salme es un excelente ilustrador Malagueño, al que ya publicamos hace un año. Adora los buenos pinceles y el olor a tinta, a pesar de usar y controlar el Photoshop a tope. Su trabajo es una curiosa mezcla de ciencia ficción, cómics y la cultura pop, filtrado por su extraordinaria imaginación. Disfrutad, yo no puedo dejar de entrar en su web!!

Señor Salme is an excellent illustrator from Malaga, posted here one year ago. Good brushes and ink smell lover, despite he uses photoshop as a master. His work is the result of a mixture between science fiction, comic books and pop culture, filtered by his extraordinary imagination. Enjoy, I can’t stop reviewing his work!!
